R2 Magazine specializes is Singer Songwriter, Rootsy, Folky music and is available in WH Smiths, HMV and all other great places. R2 also used James Clay’s “Wrong Side Of The Fight” as the lead track on their cover mount CD. Here’s the review:

Despite a background in semi-successful bands, “Breaking The Spell”  is James Clay’s attempt to take his music back to basics and offer a selection of his songs in their most honest, unadorned form, with just his voice, acoustic guitar, harmonica and an understated rhythm section.

It’s a tasteful collection that shows there’s much to admire in his well-crafted, acoustic folk-pop, which breezes along with a beguiling directness.

He skilfully incorporates elements of country-rock, American folk, and 70s rock with strong melodies and impressive picking to produce little gems such as “Before The War”, “Wrong Side Of The Fight”, and “Side By Side”.  Sadly, at only eight tracks it’s all over a little too soon, but “Breaking The Spell” is certainly an inviting calling card.
