Steve ‘Blabbermouth’ Thompson epitomizes what it means to be a real troubadour. Living on the waterways of England with an ever changing postcode and bedroom window view, here is a musician and songwriter whose very existence and lifestyle defines his art and no more so than on Ramble. An album as much about the love of the written word as it is for the love of travel, nature and diversity, Ramble marks the arrival of a fully matured songsmith at the very height of his powers.
Ramble is very much old-school in its desire and thoughtfulness to provide the listener with a real journey from the first track to the last. The opening ‘I Like The Birds’, a whimsical, light-hearted ‘man versus nature’ observation that, like everything else on this wonderful album, resonates in the head long after the final chords have died away.
Hailing from Littlehampton, Thompson relocated to London in his late teens and pursued a life in art as a painter, sculptor and performance artist before finally pursuing a musical career. In 2009 his debut album, ‘My Dancing Heart’ was released on Hobgoblin Records to great reviews which led to appearances with the likes of Seth Lakeman, Show Of hands and Demon Barbers and regular plays on the BBC and regional radio. In 2010 he released ‘Me And The Metronome’ which again garnered high praise and was followed by the single ‘Christmas Time In London Time’ which was played extensively on BBC 6 Music. Last FM
